How to Prepare Your Kitchen For Thanksgiving

Are you hosting this year’s Thanksgiving festivities? If you answered yes and are feeling a bit nervous about your kitchen being bombarded with large poultry and relatives, you might want to keep reading.

Here are a few simple things you can do to get your kitchen ready for Thanksgiving.

  1. Clear off the Countertops. Between the big bird, stuffing, casseroles, yams, and various pies, countertop real estate will be at a premium. This is not the time to display your coveted collection of knick knacks and keepsakes. If it doesn’t serve a functional purpose in your kitchen, it probably needs to be tucked away in a spare closet.
  1. Schedule the Oven– Get on the horn and see who’s cooking what at your house and find out how long they need the oven for. Once you have all the pertinent information, you can start putting the puzzle together. See where you can double up in the oven and remember to account for cool down time if someone needs a cooler oven temperature.
  1. Dust off the Servingware– It’s the one time of year you finally get to use that 22oz gravy boat your great aunt Martha got you for your wedding! Take inventory of what servingware you have and make a list of what you need to pick up before the big day.
  1. Stock Up on To Go Boxes– Unless you want to eat turkey sandwiches every day until St. Patrick’s day, go grab some extra to go containers. This way you can pawn off some leftovers on unsuspecting relatives.
  1. Stock the Bar– You’re about to spend roughly 6 straight hours with your extended family, this one should be obvious.

From our family to yours, we hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
